Project Overview
This project involved the CNC machining of multiple custom bicycle components using 7075-T6 aluminum alloy, known for its high strength-to-weight ratio. Parts were manufactured in small batches and finished with black anodizing for enhanced corrosion resistance and appearance.
Key Features

Material: 7075-T6 aluminum
Surface finish: Black anodized
Process: CNC milling and turning
Batch size: Low-volume, multiple part types
Tolerance: High precision per drawing requirements
Application: High-end custom bicycle assemblies
Our Scope
We provided full-process support including material selection, DFM (Design for Manufacturability) guidance, CNC programming, machining, quality control, and surface finishing. Due to the complexity and precision needed, cross-functional coordination was applied from prototype to delivery.
🔧 Commonly Customized Bicycle Parts
Custom machining is widely used for the following bicycle components:
- Stems
- Pedals
- Crank arms
- Hubs
- Dropouts
- Brake mounts
- Suspension linkages
These parts often require tight tolerances, specific geometries, and material durability for competitive performance and rider customization.

🧪 Materials Popular in High-End Bicycle Components
Besides 7075 aluminum, common materials include:
- 6061 aluminum – good balance of strength and machinability
- Titanium – lightweight, corrosion-resistant, used for high-end frames and bolts
- Carbon fiber – not machined but often combined with CNC connectors or inserts
- Stainless steel – used for strength-critical areas
